I am a student at Florida State University's College of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts. This short-film was produced for the program. It was shot on film and has a running time of five and half minutes.
Brief Synopsis:
Josh is the best man at his brother's wedding. All the guests have arrived, the church is packed, and the bride is furious. The groom is missing. Everyone is waiting. Josh is sent to the dressing room to retrieve the groom immediately.
Once in the dressing room, Josh is shocked to discover a doctor examining the groom. Josh learns that the groom was eating a cherry and accidently swallowed a pit...the cherry seed. Josh doesn't understand what the big deal is. The doctor simply explains that the groom is becoming a tree.
"But as a kid I'd always heard that if you swallowed a seed, it'd grow in your stomach?" Josh asks.
"No that's just a myth," the doctor explains. "He's becoming a tree"
Josh tries to somehow stop this transformation while each moment brings them closer to discovery by the bride...and to the groom becoming a complete tree.
For the first two acts, the musical tone of this absurd comedy is that of a thriller/horror film. Then in the third act, when the bride discovers the tree, the tone switches to that of a melodrama. The film ends in a triumphant finale.
