Founded in 2001 by Ryland Bouchard in San Diego, CA with the belief that great music has nothing to do with its popularity. Since the beginning every release has been funded by the artist - no trust fund money has been involved in making this music available. Struggling to break even after the release of the "ON VACATION" (SWIMOO3 / SWIM004) handmade booklet in 2004, Ryland decided to sign with 5RC / Kill Rock Stars for the reissue of "ON VACATION" and continued with 5RC for two more records as THE ROBOT ATE ME. In the years between 2005-2007 we quietly released some wonderful records by DOVEMAN, THE WINKS, WEST DAKOTA, THE OCEAN FLOOR, and vinyl for THE ROBOT ATE ME, GOOD WORLD. In 2008, 5RC stopped releasing records and Ryland decided to take on the "SEEDS" (SWIM012) project with the help of long-time collaborator Daniel Gibson for the return of Swim Slowly Records as a full-time project.
