Born in Panama, october 29th 1982,
At an early Age, Rodrigo studied music composition and was involved in many rock and jazz bands in Panama. He moved to Tampa, FL (2002) in order to continue his musical path, performing and studying in college (HCC).
After being at Berklee College Of Music in Boston (2005), where he had been awarded several music scholarships, Rodrigo had to go back to Panama.
There, he performed with many artists like saxophone player/composer Carlos Garnett (Miles Davis’s group, 70’s), drummer Walfredo Reyes Jr (Santana, Christina Aguilera, Celia Cruz), Innova with fellow musician Anibal De Leon, Chale Icaza, and others, in many popular music festivals, including the Panama Jazz Festival, Panama Drum Festival, and the Panama International Music Festival.
He was also a finalist of the John Lennon Songwriting Competition in 2006, for the jazz category with the song “the last dance”.
Rodrigo composed for several shortfilms (Intuition, Bazuka, Chessmaster, Cholunatico, etc). Most of them were screened in Film Festivals in America: Icaro Film Festival (Guatemala), Garzas (Panama), and other screenings in New York.
These Experiences led Rodrigo to move to Los Angeles California where he completed the UCLA Film Scoring program in 2007.
in 2008, Rodrigo composed music for several shortfilms in los angeles, including Golpe (Dir by Paulo Bongiovanni) and Plagued (by Michael Clark) which was screened at the Cannes ShortFilms festival and Zero Film festival.
He also produced and Arranged the new album of Panamanian rock band THE VOX, album entitled A World Upside Down, and had been performing and recording for many artist’s like Ryan Hill, Ernesto Carreyo, Ronan Chris Murphy, Kathleen Blackwell, Innova, Polyphase, and others.
As a member of the Society of Composers and Lyricists of Los Angeles, Rodrigo was selected from many other composers to participate in the SCL mentorship program (along fellow composers Peter Bateman, Everett Griffiths and Sunna Wehrmeijer)
Recently, Rodrigo spends his time composing and working as a guitarist and producer in Los Angeles.
