Ever heard the saying, ‘There is two sides to every story’?
For the Chicago Hip Hop scene, that couldn’t be any more evident then now.
Up until just recently Chicago Hip Hop has been represented in a more eccentric, conscious and soulful tone. There is another side to this story.
L.E.P. (Low End Professionals) reps the ‘Other Side’ where things aren’t so pretty.
“L.E.P reps that true gangbang music, not promoting violence, but just making the listeners aware of what we've been through in the projects of Chicago” says Infared Music’s Eric Jones, “Just know that it’s Chicago's turn and the world has a force to deal with”
L.E.P. has been featured on DVD’s such as Straight Hood, State to the Lake and Hood To Hood and has also had the opportunity to perform with acts such as
E-40, Young Dro and Rick Ross all leading up to their Infared Music label deal at the end of 2005 with Sony BMG. Since then, Larro, one member of the group was killed in an act of gang violence and they have also left their deal at Sony to persue a more formidable opportunity for all involved. Count, the lead rapper, along with Mooney and Bigg Rug still hold L.E.P. down to the fullest.
“ L.E.P. got this deal because of the originality they possessed as individual artists as well as a group. The sound they have is very unique to their region and musically tasteful” Infra Red Music’s Eric Jones. Anton Marchand, LEP’s former A&R at Sony BMG states, “ They voiced the life and struggle of Chicago’s darker side, and when I saw their grind and dedication to their music I had to sign them”
With their debut album still slated to drop in middle of 2008, L.E.P. and Infared have already enlisted some of today’s biggest artists as features (Rick Ross Bun B, Young Dro, Twista and Fabolous) as well as producers with hit making ability ( Hi-tek, Heatmakerz, Kanye West, Knottz, and other up and coming Chicago producers) to ensure they heat up the windy city and the world with the labels first offering!
