Biography
Louis Gentile, born in Newark, New Jersey, is a Classically-trained guitarist who has been in the music field for over thirty years. He is a graduate of Montclair State College, receiving a B.A. degree in music education, and music theory & composition. Additional studies include NYU with Disney heavyweight Buddy Baker. In addition to guitar, Louis also performs on steel guitar, banjo, harmonica and dobro. He has also spent time in Nashville as a road musician and has opened up for Emmylou Harris and Waylon Jennings. In addition, he is presently scoring a documentary on the history of the railroads, finishing off a book proposal on flourishing as a freelance musician, working part-time as a certified teacher of music, privately and in the classroom, and is developing an interactive music instructional pilot for PBS.
Hello... I was around during the 60's before radio formatting, so one minute you'd hear "Cab Driver" by The Mills Brothers, then you'd hear "The Immigrant Song" by Led
Zeppelin, followed by some Motown and finally a movie theme like "The Good,
the Bad & the Ugly or "You Only Live Twice", so my influences are varied. My primary instrument is guitar. I also work as a pedal steel player performing a lot of Traditional Country.
I really enjoy engineering/producing my own projects, and have produced/engineered other acts as well. I also do film editing (w/Final Cut Pro) and generally deliver the music I've written for a client dubbed to
picture so they can see how it will fit with the scenes. As a writer, I seem
to feel most comfortable with instrumentals between 1-3 minutes, though I can write songs with lyrics and have feature-length film work experience.Thank you
