My music is very much a journey into self exploration and self expression. Drums, percussion, electronic beats and sounds in the everyday world are what I like to work with. Sampling and adjusting frequencies for my creations is a process that just makes creating music so enjoyable to me.
In 2003 i released my first CD "Orange Galaxy" under the name Dr. Lee and the Sufi Girl.
My background is percussion-based. In 2004, I travelled to Guinea Conakry, West Africa. There I studied the djembe drum with djembe master Aboubacar Fatouabou Camara. Learning from such a respected and world class musician was indeed an eye-opener for me in the sense that I knew nothing about the instrument.... I thought I did. This trip was made possible with the help of The Canada Council for the Arts. After returning home, my music changed. I started to create with a much more thematic kind of vibe and at the same time making the rhythms more complex and blistering.
I collaborate with many artists and friends, creating sound for dance, art installations and for music projects.
I am currently working on a new album due out Fall 2007
