I have a background in jazz, classical and rock and I am pretty comfortable writing in any of those styles , as well as inventing instruments to create completely different sounds and textures. I have written songs for rock bands, (rock with some free jazz and funk influences) as well as various styles that I was commisioned to write for specific films (Bassa Nova, classical guitar, tango, MOR rock, ambient sounds, solo violin, 80's rock etc. Though I do use some sequencing and electronics, I am usually able to avoid that plasticy artificial sound by using it in a subtle way. I can play a lot of instruments, so I am often able to use real instruments instead of midi to create natural sounding cues.
