I have checked the boxes of several genres because I truly am a composer of MANY mediums! I have three years of formal classical and jazz training majoring in Composition at the Conservatory of Music at Capital University (capital.edu). I currently study Music Composition and Film Studies at The Ohio State University. I specialize in several fields of composition, including classical music, electronic music, jazz, and popular music. I have not only composed in the genres, but I have performed in them as well!
I also just released my first album which ventures through pop, jazz, blues, and soul. It has been two long, hard years in the making and it's finally done. I mention this to show my versatility as a musician and openness to soundscapes of all shapes and sizes. I'm proud to call myself a popular musician. I feel that limiting yourself to only classical music (or, in this case, typical "film" music) can often make your music stale. I like to think that my music is far from stale.
I am the equivalent of a "method" actor when it comes to composing. When I am given an assignment I immerse myself in the style of music that I will be writing, or, in this case, the style of film that I will be composing in. You can bet that I will watch hours of footage of film, researching the style from the grand overall picture to the tiniest nuance.
So far I have three films to my name as a composer. Two feature-length documentaries (both paid) and one short on a volunteer basis.
I am rather efficient with computers as well, using the latest versions of Pro Tools, Digital Performer, and Reason (as well as other programs, including Adobe software packages and Macintosh Logic systems, and I'm taking a class on computer programming to expand the possibilities of my current software devices) to develop audio synced with video. I have extensively studied many genres of music, from Renaissance to Reggae and back, therefore I can accommodate for even the wildest of requests. I'm willing to write music as long as there is a need for it.

For a history documentary I did the music for this past summer, there was a scene where the narrator/historian had his group in a refurbished log cabin and described how the current owners went to great lengths to restore the old cabin. After describing each detail, he paused for a couple seconds, then delivered a joke: "the carpet isn't an original". Pretty funny for a historian. What I did musically is wrote a sixty second latin jazz piece that is introduced with a shaker. The shaker entered at the pause, remained for the punchline, then the moving bass line carried through the transition into the next scene. ... At the film's premier, much to my enjoyment, the 500+ person crowd roared in laughter. See, I didn't have to write the joke or even deliver it, I just managed to serve it on a silver platter.
Music, like film making, is all about timing. Work with me and together we will trigger whatever emotions you envision due to good timing and proper execution.
