The songs are generally of a rather whimsical nature, though darker elements are often lurking around the corner. Berman's indie-pop project - The Marble Tea (www.marbletea.com), which has been described as "children's songs for adults" - has had songs featured on TV and in children's videos. The music has been compared to Jonathan Richman, a "happy Lou Reed," early Beck, the Jazz Butcher, and Robyn Hitchcock, among others.
As a composer, Berman has created theme songs for internet cartoons (on one occasion successfully delivering a request for a "George Romero meets Esquivel" number!).
While his current forte is "songs," he has begun branching out into all manner of composing for multimedia.
