guitarist Denis Taaffe creates unique multi-layered instrumental compositions with guitar and guitar loops done on the fly. His unique approach to guitar has developed into a new musical style all his own. All compositions are improvised on the spot and recorded live wih no overdubs. He often emulates other instruments from horns, synths, bass to sounds that are out of this world yet musical and accessible and melodic and all the sounds are guitar and analog based, no midi emulations. Truly a unique artist with a unique sound which would be ideal for film. If you want a unique sound for your film this is the guy. hi s compositions range from stndard 3-5 minutes to a staggering 30minutes or more.His compositions range from rock to new age to melodic ambient to. At times it is hard to tell Denis is playing a guitar, using volume swells and other techniques to coax sounds. He also uses percussion sounds and his compositions casn sound like an entire standard rock band or at times an orchestra , yet there is something about the orchestra sound that is unsuual...oh its guitars, lots of guitars, but they dont sound like guitars...get the idea? I addition, his innovative use of loops really sets him apart and makes him one of the most innovative around. Take tangerine dream, yet its all guitars instead of synths. | DEnis works in a unique way. He has a studio and scores films live pretty much. After several days of improvisation he finds the compostions that work best with the particular scenes. In certain cases, He has been known to do an entire film score live, in a matter of 1-2 hours.
