I try to use as broad and as large a musical pallette as possible to create music for each individual project. Instead of starting out with a set of musical criteria and trying to apply them to a film, I try to view a film and then draw upon my musical ideas to express the themes and emotions in that film musically.
I am mostly an orchestral composer, though I also work with live instruments, electronic instruments and other such sounds. My music would draw mostly from orchestral composers such as John Williams, Howard Shore, Eliot Goldenthal, Danny Elfman, James Newton Howard, Hans Zimmer, Ennio Morricone and others. I always try and serve the film with my music, instead of trying to find a way to fit my preconceptions of music into a film. To this extent, I approach each project with a fresh and open mind, and then I decide what instruments and styles would best serve the film.
