My life was decided at the age of 5 when I was cast in the play South Pacific. During the many rehearsals the Actors and Singers asked me what I was going to do in my future. I said I wanted to write the music. Have I done it? Yes. I have been writing music for many years now. I write music with the thought that the song that emerges has a story to tell. Most of my lyrical songs are to me like they are coming from a play or something. I imagine a scene and create the song around the thought. Also the instrumentals are actually geared the same way in my mind. They are songs for TV or Film. I do anything from Classical sounding material to Hard Rock, and from Easy listening to meditational electronic space music. I use the highest quality workstation and I play all the other instruments I may use in all my creation. What I strive for are unique sounds and new ways of promoting old sounds. I’ve been a Writer/Publisher Member of ASCAP for a few year now, and am starting to get my music out to the world. Europe is reponding to my sounds at the moment. I was raised in England and it would appear that my material is from my time there. I am self taught and am happy with that. It gives my music an original base. My Catalogue is available for viewing at the "ACE" site at ASCAP. It can be seen by using my real name or using my Artist name of "RICK DAKOTAH"
To date I have 9 CDs out at the moment. All available at http://www.cdbaby.com/all/primate. This is only a fraction of the total material I have composed and recorded. I do all the work from creating to recording to promotion. My life consists of Art in all forms. If I am not tooling around in the studio, then I am probably working on some other form of ARTWORK. It is what I do. I am possessed by creation. If you asked me what my favorite song is that I’ve done so far..I would have to say the next one. (I don’t look back)
The songs that I have released are my songs that I think have commercial appeal. I have many that are to me for other purposes and yet to be used efficiently. I will find what they are for soon I am sure.
