Film Music Opportunities
The Holiday and the Adventure Pop Collective sound, described as "American roots takes a right turn into eclecticism powered by melody and optimism", stretches the boundaries of popular music with their unique rock noir. First, incorporate vocal harmonies of Crosby, Stills & Nash and Jimmie Dale Gilmore with the new American roots sounds of Gillian Welch, Wilco and Ryan Adams. Then add The Beatles, The The and Keith Jarrett-influenced arrangements (using piano, strings, horns and an occasional accordion). Finally, throw in k.d. lang-meets-Thom York vocals and you arrive at their refreshingly- new, bright, melodic, song-driven countrified pop sound. Music critic Dave Marsh summarizes their sound as “instantly memorable music with an ultimately unified sound.”

At the helm of Holiday and Adventure Pop Collective is the songwriting and vocal duo of Derric Oliver and Louis Caverly. Derric and Louis’ voices often sound as though they are one; or as brothers who’ve been singing together since childhood. Paul Baucume of SP Entertainment says, “seeing them perform live, it is evident that Louis and Derric know each other as if they are in the same body at times. They smoothly switch instruments with each other on various songs without losing the flow of the performance. This is a band that is a definite crowd pleaser.” Or as Caley Cook (music critic, San Diego CityBeat) points out from a different perspective, “Holiday is a vision of old-timey American cowboys drinking Starbucks, or the lonesome city slicker pacing the Old West in an Armani.”

Holiday and the Adventure Pop Collective have captured the ears of CMJ reporting College and Top 40 radio program directors around the nation with their single "Annie Anymore" from their EP, “Start All Over Again.” Holiday was selected as an “Extra Special Good” act in San Diego CityBeat magazine’s “Locals Only” issue (Issue #85 – 3-31-04) and continues to be recognized by music critics in the U.S. and U.K. North One Television Ltd. licensed their song “Evel Knievel Can Fly” for use in a documentary about Evel Knievel for transmission in the UK. Derric and Louis have made guest appearances on recordings from LOUIS XIV, Alex Woodard, Nathan Hubbard and the Skeleton Key Orchestra, and multi-instrumentalist Evan Calbi. The boys are currently recording their second full-length album with producer/engineer Ben Moore (Noise Ratchet, Berkley Hart, Counterfit) in Encinitas, CA, due early 2005.

Based in San Diego, California, Holiday and the Adventure Pop Collective regularly performs in top venues in San Diego and Los Angeles and continues to record and write songs while building an international audience.
