Depending on the project, my scores reflect either my classical influences: Stravinsky, Ravel, Mahler, Bach and Pendereski...or my jazz influences: Bill Evans, Paul Whiteman, Art Tatum, Keith Jarrett, etc. I am a professional pianist.
I’ve written for full orchestra, lots of chamber music, lots of Latin charts, also early swing. Really rich melody and harmony is my hallmark, and my music tends to be harmonically complex. I usually opt for acoustic sources, and I really like using interesting instruments from around the world, like the oud, the pipa, the dumbek, ocarinas, etc...
But when you get down to it, a versatile composer should tailor the music to the imagery and the feeling of the film; whatever is needed.
