My music has a rainbow quality in that I do not specifically work within one genre. I have made music for documentary and TV commercials in the past which has ranged from classical to bluegrass(and everything in between!) Having never studied music at college, I do everything by ear. I thought about the college thing once until someone told me that since I didn?t know the rules, I wouldn?t feel so bad about breaking them. So I mix sound palettes until I find what I want. I have a background in recording and the studio is almost like an instrument. Speaking of instruments, first is guitar then bass and mandolin, a bit of whistle and percussion and I can work my way around a keyboard enough to show a keyboard player what I'm after. Oh, I've been told that I can sing too. I like to mess with new instruments to see what I can get from them.
Whether it's a song or a piece of music, I create it from feelings. These can be inspired by personal experience or an outside influence such as a movie sequence with a word from a director or a brief from an ad. agency art diretcor.
