boogie-woogie music is an american roots music tradition from the 20's, 30's, and 40's. It began as virtuosic rhythm filled instrumental piano style that grew out of blues song with piano accompaniment. Pioneered by a generation of black artists in a segregated America, it resurfaced later in the hands of early rock n'rollers and shaped American music for generations.
