'Shixian' is the name of the duo act, May Ong (Vocals) and husband, Calvin Nam (Producer). Beginning in 2004, Calvin had compiled several songs to release May as lead singer for a planned 1st album, searching and selecting through archives of his songs written dated as far back as 1995. It took years of discovery for Calvin to decipher what combination of influences could blend well and create a unique and original style pertaining to the influences of both him and May's history.
As a music producer and Owner of Parablue Recording Studios, Calvin had been through numerous influences from Rock(80-90s), Trance(2000s) and his personal flavour of New Age music. As well, he love fantasy movies, chinese oriental history and Sci Fi. May's influences lay along the lines of pop and musicals which further expanded Calvin's horizon, and the journey to discovery slowly led Calvin through many years of mastery and learning before coming to a conclusion to release 1st album, Sleeper's Tale.
