I have been composing/producing electronic music since 1974. My music is "instrumental", but is quite eclectic, with a diverse range of influences - from exhuberant melodic themes, intense instumentals, dark/heavy/spooky mood pieces, to experimental electro-acoustic "sound art", and interesting combinations of structured musical forms in conjunction with sonic experimentation.
I was especially prolific from 1987 to 1994, when I independently released a CD called "Aquarelle". This was a collaboration between myself and my friend Jamie Stevenson, and we call ourselves Phonix - a variation of "phonic", meaning "about sound". Since then, I have completed two more Phonix CDs, "Exhuberant" and "Delphian Shades", although I have not produced these in large quantity. I also have material for two more Phonix CDs (tentatively called "Aessential" and "Empyrean").
Many people have told me that my music is perfect for film and video. I recently returned to the Ontario College of Art and Design to complete my BFA program, majoring in Integrated Media. My top mark was for Advanced Sonic Arts (and I was the top student). I was strongly encouraged to pursue my music/sound art - especially in the context of multimedia production and performance.
