Glyph: a symbolic figure or character (as in the Mayan system of writing) usually incised or carved in relief. [glyphic “gli-fik” adjective]
The members of Glyphic see their music as a symbolic method of communication; as a means of expressing ideas and/or emotions. As such, the name Glyphic is perfectly fitting for this Denver based hard rock quartet.
Founded in 2005, Glyphic has generated a significant following in Colorado and beyond over the past several years, opening for such national acts as Trapt, Egypt Central and Onesidezero.
In the sea of incoherent metal and whiny pop-punk that is out there in music today, Glyphic stands out of the indie scene with a solid balance of aggressive riffs, melodic quality and introspective lyrics and a sound that is often compared to Chevelle or Breaking Benjamin. This is hard rock at its best, with songwriting that possesses enough of an aggressive edge to please metal fans while still maintaining broader appeal.
The band’s debut LP, “Everything Eventual”, features some of the best tracks to be found in independent rock today, including “Of Dark and Quiet” which is currently in the top 40 tracks of the alternative chart on www.songvault.fm. Six tracks from the 12-song LP can be heard on www.glyphicmusic.com or www.myspace.com/glyphicmusic.
With regional touring in support of “Everything Eventual” currently in the works, and plans for a sophomore effort within the next year, it’s clear that this band is well on their way to following in the footsteps of the numerous other artists to come out of Denver and hit the national scene.
