Dina Alexander is a native New Yorker with extensive credits editing, producing, composing, arranging/orchestrating, sound designing, and musical directing. Ms. Alexander works in a wide variety of media, and in a multitude of musical styles – including, Pop, Jazz, Dance, Classical, Rock, World, New Age, Broadway and Country. She employs the use of both acoustic and digital instruments – her favorite combination. Then, having full technical understanding, Dina is able to engineer, edit, compose, and produce the A/V product in her own Upper West Side post-production studio – a great tool for cutting client costs.

The daughter of an Italian opera singer, Dina has always seen the world through melody. With a chameleon-like sense, she can communicate the spirit of any genre with keen stylistic understanding. Ms. Alexander approaches her work with an indefatigable verve and passion that brings the colors, sounds, and textures of her music to life, and seamlessly blends audio and video together in Final Cut Studio and Pro Tools. Dina's musical and theatrical sense of timing enhances her ability to pace a story line and make a concept flow.

Dina's been called "Danny Elfman, James Horner & Rachel Portman all rolled into one…. As for songwriting, Dina gives a great hook!" She wrote the theme for the Harmonic Convergence, which was simulcast in over 60 countries. Dina wrote the 2nd act show-stopper called "Someone Who Loves Me" for a production of Little Lord Fauntelroy, about which Celeste Holm said, "What a Song! ‘Someone Who Loves Me’ tears your heart out!" She conducted and wrote a complete score for an Off-Broadway production called Child of the Universe. The finale from that show, an electrifying anthem entitled 'Dare to Dream', sparked an Inner City Project which aids the needy. "Dare to Dream" was awarded the Momentum Golden Hammer Volunteer Award by Bronx Borough President Fernando Ferrer. Dina's other musical directing credits include Hello Dolly, Carousel, Camelot, South Pacific, Annie Get Your Gun, Sweet Charity, Funny Girl. Ms. Alexander also received a commendation from the United Nations World Peace Prayer Society for a composition called "To All of Us."

Dina has also been active in the art world, composing, editing (in various languages), and producing music, narration, and sf/x for docu-tours for Museums around the world – from The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Smithsonian, to the Vatican and China’s Forbidden City. Some of the narrators for the projects Dina has produced/scored/sound designed are David Bowie, Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline, Kathleen Turner, André Braugher, Peter Ustinov, Candice Bergen, Gregory Peck, Sam Waterston, and Maria Shriver.

Dina wrote the score for a film entitled The Fanatical Teachings of Julian Tau for Rebellion Pictures. Dina has recently completed editing a film entitled The Trip There for Mignanelli Films. Ms. Alexander produced, composed, and arranged songs for a World Music group called Magica. The CD is entitled, Worlds Collide.

Ms. Alexander is a published poet. She has been awarded the Editor's Choice Award from the International Library of Poetry and is included in Who's Who of Poetry. Dina was nominated for Poet of the Year, 2004 and 2005.

Dina's music can be heard on MTV's Real World in the U.S. and International segments. She was the music specialist for a Christmas songbook, Christmas Carols: 75 Songs of the Season to Share, published by Oomf!/Gramercy Books, a division of Random House.

Dina has just completed sound designing three plays, Evidence of Things Unseen and Safe Home for CAP21 in NYC; and The Alice Complex, starring Obie Winner, Lisa Banes and Tony Nominee, Xanthe Elbrick for the NY International Fringe Festival at the Cherry Lane Theatre. Backstage said, "Discovering a show like The Alice Complex is the reason for the Fringe Festival's existence." NY Theatre said, "...the changes never seem long or distracting. Dina Alexander's fitting choice of music greatly assists in this."

Dina just finished producing and editing a soon-to-be-released, world-premiere CD, featuring Metropolitan Opera Orchestra musicians, Elmira Darvarova (violin), Samuel Magill (cello), and Associate Conductor Hollywood Bowl Orchestra/LA Philharmonic/Pittsburgh Opera, Scott Dunn (piano) for the classical label, Naxos.

Ms. Alexander is in the midst of writing the book and composing the score for a musical fantasy, entitled… well, we can't tell you that right now. It's top secret.

That's a taste of a few things on the fire at this time. If there's a style that you want to hear or a specific artist or project for whom you have a need, don't hesitate to ask…. Dina can get it to you yesterday!

Ms. Alexander is right-brain/left-handed and a hell of a lot of fun to work with.
