STYLE: Americana mixture of acoustic folk/roots/blues/bluegrass.
Female vocals reminiscent of Natalie Merchant and Emmylou Harris, in the style of Lucinda Williams and Jewel. Lyrics cover everything from Hollywood to Memphis, The Black Dahlia to John Wayne and soldiers to cowboys.
BIO: Courtney Leigh Heins, a Hoosier native and Boston College graduate, combines elements of folk, country, jazz, and bluegrass with compelling stories about life in the Heartland & Hollywood, lost loves and found whiskey. Co-writer Bryan Dobbs, originally from Maryland, has been playing guitar since the age of 10 and currently plays bass for Frank Stallone. Courtney & Bryan have performed around the Los Angeles area at The Rainbow, Genghis Cohen, Pig'n Whistle & Molly Malone's, where they opened for I See Hawks in LA. Courtney's 2nd album "Hot Coffee" (featuring Doug Pettibone of Lucinda Williams' band on guitar) was just released in October of 2008. Her music has been featured on Nic Harcourt's Morning Becomes Eclectic, as well as in film, TV and commercials. Please visit www.refolk.com for more information.
