Formed in the hazy winter of ‘07 by Torontonian singer-songwriter Jacqueline Schlender (ex Belles Will Ring) and Melbournian artist-producer Bryan St James (Hamish/Spiritualist/Primitive Ghost), Band Of The Free began life in a spontaneous tequila-fuelled rage of sonic and graphic creativity. This, followed by an inspirational trial by fire on the dark streets of West Hollywood and the spooky desert plains of California and Nevada set the tone in stone. Upon returning to sunny Sydney to wade through the ocean of material produced on America’s west coast, the band seconded a smoky mountain hideaway to commence the recording of their debut long player.
