Gypsy blues has never sounded more fluent or original. Victory and Anny reinvents old school genres with new vibe and energy. The setup is simple: Fiery, mystical vocals and flamenco-based Muddy Waters-style guitar riffs compel the listener into sound and story, song after song.
Anny Lieberman enraptures her audience with a voice that has the eruptive passion of Aretha Franklin, and the seductive power of Robert Plant. Her stage presence is hypnotic, transporting her listeners into new depths of astonishment. Her beauty and intensity leaves spectators gasping for air.
Victory Mori is a virtuoso Spanish classical guitarist who plays a resonator guitar with a slide. He plays the “metal beast” with the exquisite touch of a classical master, yet bends his strings with the raunchy irreverence of a middle finger pointing straight to his classical roots.
“Mudbone” Clark augments the band with his red hot blues harp playing. Lavell Jones keeps it tight in the pocket as the drummer. Alex Wilkerson lays down the groove with his upright and electric bass.
The songs are theatrical vignettes. They tell stories that resonate deep within our psyches, lyrically reminiscent of Bob Dylan’s most imaginative works. Audiences leave Victory and Anny concerts giddy with their breaths taken away as though they’ve just been on a roller-coaster ride through a dream world, filled with the swampy magic of its milieu, and guided by angels and wizards.
