Sometimes success means patience

Filed under: General — versusmedia @ 5:48 pm

I was happy to attend a private screening of “The Master Plan” on Saturday night at the Rialto in South Pasadena.

“The Master Plan” is a prime example of how to have patience with the opportunities you discover. I had a brief chat with filmmaker Aron Campisano before the screening, and he mentioned that he first posted his project on VersusMedia.com in 2004. Here we are now at the end of 2008, and his film is just starting to make it’s rounds through private screenings. It will then move on to the festival circuit.

Aron did mention to me that the majority of the music he used is from musicians he found on VersusMedia.com. I was, of course, happy to hear this.

While I was watching the film, I had to remind myself a few times that these were composers and musicians from VersusMedia.com.  These weren’t John Williams, Hans Zimmer, etc. That’s how well I think the music was working.

It’s still amazing to me, after all of this time, that patience is truly the key to the film industry.  I know that as a film musician trying to land placements and get your name out there, it can already be difficult.  Just remember that many of these filmmakers are trying to realize their own dreams. Be patient with them, and I am sure you will be rewarded.
